Allergy is an excessively strong reaction to a certain substance (allergen), usually mediated by IgE-type antibodies or T-cells.
Allergies can manifest as respiratory symptoms (allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma), eye symptoms (allergic conjunctivitis, etc.), gastrointestinal symptoms, and skin symptoms (contact dermatitis, acute urticaria, and exacerbations of atopic dermatitis may be related to allergies). In severe cases, multiple organ systems may be affected simultaneously.
Today, it is possible to cure many allergies caused by inhaled allergens. In cases where curing is not possible, allergy-related complaints can be significantly alleviated.
Allergy consultations are provided by pediatrician and pediatric allergist-pulmonologist Dr. Urve Putnik.
