Cryotherapy, also known as cold therapy, is a treatment method where liquid nitrogen is used to freeze warts and corns. However, a dermatologist or dermatology nurse may also prescribe cryotherapy for other skin problems (a prior consultation is necessary). During the consultation, the specialist will determine the best treatment method for you.
Liquid nitrogen freezes the water within the skin cells, and as it melts, the intercellular bonds break, forming a blister. As the blister heals, the growth is removed along with it. The removal of skin growths through cryotherapy is effective, but multiple procedures are usually necessary.
The recovery period from the procedure is short and allows for a quick return to daily activities.
Skin growths can be removed from anywhere on the body.
The cost of the procedure is approximately €45-75.
