PDL, or Pulsed Dye Laser, operates differently from an IPL laser. At Niine Skin Clinic, we use the Candela Vbeam Perfecta®, a world-renowned and highly regarded laser. The Candela Vbeam Perfecta® is considered one of the best devices available for treating vascular lesions, scars, hemangiomas, and rosacea.
This laser emits a single wavelength of light (595 nm), which is absorbed by the blood vessels in the skin, effectively reducing the redness and inflammation associated with rosacea.
Please note: The skin must not be tanned for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the scheduled procedure, in order to ensure safety and optimal results and to reduce the risk of pigmentation and skin irritation.
How does the procedure work?
Consultation: Before the procedure, a consultation with a specialist takes place to assess your skin condition, discuss your medical history, and determine the suitability of laser treatment for your rosacea.
Preparation: At the start of the procedure, the skin is cleansed.
During the procedure: You may feel a slight snapping sensation as the laser pulses, but most patients find the procedure well tolerated.
Duration: A treatment session typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated.
What to consider before the procedure?
- You should avoid sun tanning for at least 2–4 weeks beforehand, depending on your skin tone. Self-tanning creams should also not be used for 1 month before the procedure. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
- Inform your specialist of all medications or supplements you are taking. Some medications, such as blood thinners, may need to be paused before treatment.
- Stop using retinoids, glycolic acid, and other potentially irritating skincare products a few days before treatment.
- Stay well hydrated and follow a gentle skincare routine until your appointment.
What to consider after the procedure?
- Some redness and swelling in the treated areas is normal and usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
- Apply a cold compress or ice pack to the treated areas to reduce swelling and discomfort. Avoid hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise for at least 24 hours.
- Continue to avoid sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Wear a hat and protective clothing when outdoors.
- Use gentle, non-irritating skincare products. Avoid harsh exfoliation, exfoliating agents, and active ingredients such as retinoids for a few days after treatment.
- Multiple sessions may be needed to achieve optimal results. Based on your specialist’s recommendation, we will invite you for a follow-up visit to monitor your progress and discuss further treatment options if needed.
Results
Patients typically notice an improvement in their rosacea symptoms within a few weeks of their first treatment. The number of sessions needed depends on the severity of the condition, but most patients benefit from 3–5 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The Candela Vbeam Perfecta laser provides long-lasting results, helping to reduce rosacea-related redness, visible blood vessels, and inflammation.
