Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive, modern light therapy method that gives the skin a significant rejuvenating effect.
The Omnilux PTD light therapy technology is based on a narrow beam light emitting diode lamp (LED). The light therapy device can be used in three different wavelength modes (Omnilux revive, Omnilux blue and Omnilux plus) and is therefore indicated for a wide range of skin conditions, from reducing the signs of ageing and accelerating the healing process to treating acne, rosacea, keratoses and skin cancer. The Omnilux light spectrum does not include UVA or UVB wavelengths or laser wavelengths.
The Omnilux revive (633 nm) and Omnilux plus (830 nm) modes stimulate the cellular mechanisms responsible for tissue renewal and repair – increasing the activity of skin fibroblasts and thus the formation of high-quality collagen. It also improves blood supply to the skin, bringing more oxygen to the cells and removing metabolic waste. Phototherapy reduces the signs of ageing, improves skin elasticity, reduces wrinkles, and improves the smoothness and radiance of the complexion. In clinical trials with the Omnilux device, 59% of patients achieved a significant positive result at the end of treatment.
If only light therapy is used, 9 treatments over 3 weeks should be carried out as a first course of treatment to achieve the best results. To maintain the result, an additional procedure should be performed every 5 weeks. When used in combination with a chemical peel, the initial course consists of 1-3 chemical peels and 6 light treatments over a 3-week period, ideally followed by an additional light treatment every 5 weeks. If light therapy is used in addition to beauty or botulinum injections, the course consists of 3 treatments – one immediately after the injections, one 3 days later and one 5 days later.
Omnilux blue (415 nm wavelength) with revive mode is used for acne treatment. Blue light affects the photosensitive porphyrins produced by the bacteria that cause skin inflammation(P. acnes) in such a way that the bacterial cells become weaker and die. The acne treatment course consists of 8 light therapy treatments over 4 weeks. At the end of the course of treatment, 75% of patients have achieved a significant anti-inflammatory result, according to studies.
Light also promotes the production of serotonin in the body, which improves mood.
The Omnilux PTD light therapy procedure lasts 20 minutes. The phototherapy procedure is preceded by a thorough cleansing of the skin and followed by the application of a moisturising cream. The procedure is painless and there are virtually no side effects (the skin may feel a little sore for a while immediately after the procedure).
