Birthmark – skin tumour

Did you know that skin cancer and melanoma are preventable? Despite this, there are more than 1,400 new cases of skin cancer and nearly 200 melanoma cases diagnosed in Estonia each year (according to the most recent data published in 2015). All forms of skin cancer can be cured with timely treatment.

Prevention

  • Check your skin at least once a month. See if there are any spots of pigmentation on the skin that are different from the others (ugly duckling). In most cases, all moles are the same, so attention should be paid to those that differ in colour, size or shape, or if a pigment spot is growing rapidly. Also check the soles of your feet and the palms of your hands!
  • Once a year, you should have your blisters checked by a specialist (dermatoscopist).
  • Protect your skin and eyes from ultraviolet rays – sun protective clothing, wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, sunglasses.
  • Do not use solarium.

We offer skin cancer risk assessment, testing and treatment for all age groups. Using the latest technologies, we ensure that our dermatologists, oncologists and surgeons diagnose and treat skin problems quickly and accurately.

The skin is the largest organ in the human body. You can also see the changes in your skin and come to our clinic for advice and help!
