During the procedure, the distance between the nose and the upper lip \u2014 known as the philtrum \u2014 is shortened. The final results become visible within 3 months, once swelling and bruising have subsided and the scar has fully healed. Over time, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, leading to reduced elasticity and sagging in certain areas. As a result, the distance between the nose and upper lip lengthens, making the upper lip appear thinner than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lip lift is also helpful for people born with a naturally long philtrum and thin upper lip.
