Papillomas, also known as skin tags, are soft, raised growths on the skin, most commonly found on the\u00a0eyelids,\u00a0armpits,\u00a0under the breasts, and in the\u00a0intimate area. Skin tags are usually skin-colored or slightly darker.
They can vary in size, but most often are just a few millimeters in diameter.
Papillomas are\u00a0benign\u00a0and generally do not require concern.

Why do skin tags occur?

Benign skin growths such as tags can be caused by a variety of factors. They commonly develop in areas like the\u00a0armpits,\u00a0neck, or\u00a0intimate regions. Contributing factors include\u00a0being overweight,\u00a0diabetes,\u00a0genetic predisposition, or\u00a0hormonal changes.

Should skin growths be removed?

A skin growth is worth removing if it bothers you. Treatment results are usually very good, as the tags are removed superficially.\u00a0No scarring\u00a0is left after removing small tags; with larger ones,\u00a0small marks\u00a0may occasionally remain.

Seborrheic keratosis\u00a0is the most common benign skin lesion. Its development is primarily related to\u00a0genetics,\u00a0aging,\u00a0frictional trauma, and\u00a0sun exposure.

These lesions often appear in clusters and can occur all over the body \u2013 on the\u00a0face,\u00a0scalp,\u00a0body, and\u00a0limbs.
They are most common in\u00a0sun-exposed areas\u00a0of the skin. Typically, they develop in\u00a0middle-aged and older adults.

The appearance of seborrheic keratosis can vary widely. It may look like a\u00a0pinkish-beige plaque\u00a0or like a\u00a0large, dark lump. Its appearance can differ depending on the location on the body and the age of the lesion.

Seborrheic keratoses are characterized by a\u00a0dry and rough surface, which may sometimes flake off on its own. (They may also cause\u00a0redness\u00a0or\u00a0itchiness\u00a0on the skin.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
